About Me
Hi, I’m Tom, the owner of Whisker & Comb, a professional feline-only grooming service covering Greater Manchester and surrounding areas.
My passion for cat grooming began with my own two Persian Chinchilla cats, Lucifer and Lazarus, who have been with me for the past five years. As Lazarus got older, his coat became much more difficult to maintain and started requiring professional grooming to keep him comfortable and mat-free. Through this, I met Debbie and Damian at Groomed to Purrfection, and watching the care, patience and skill they showed while working with Lazarus instantly sparked my interest in learning feline grooming myself.
Since then, I’ve completed training with Debbie, a certified Master Cat Groomer, and have continued developing my knowledge and hands-on experience with feline coat care, handling and low-stress grooming techniques.
What I love most about grooming is knowing that I can genuinely improve a cat’s comfort and wellbeing. Matted fur, excess undercoat and poor coat maintenance can be extremely uncomfortable for cats, especially long-haired breeds, and helping relieve that while keeping the grooming experience calm and gentle is something I care deeply about.
My approach to grooming is always patient, calm and welfare-focused. I strongly believe that patience is one of the most important parts of grooming a cat, and the last thing I ever want is for a cat to feel overwhelmed or stressed during an appointment. Every cat is treated as an individual, with one-to-one attention and handling tailored to their temperament and comfort levels.
Alongside my grooming work, I am fully insured, Enhanced DBS checked, and hold a Cat First Aid & Emergency Care qualification, giving owners peace of mind that their cats are being cared for safely and professionally at all times.
I also have a large Chow Chow called Bear, who definitely keeps me familiar with the importance of regular grooming and coat maintenance!
